The Gastro-Intestinal Type of Malaria
نویسنده
چکیده
All five patients were military police sepoys with a previous history of malaria. On admission an injection of 10 grains of quinine was given intramuscularly, and within two hours the symptoms were relieved. Next day a further injection of 10 grains of quinine was given, and thereafter the symptoms disappeared and the temperature remained normal. I cannot say with what frequency such gastrointestinal cases occur; but I had two similar cases when at Bassein.

Concurrent gastro-intestinal nematode infection does not alter the development of experimental cerebral malaria
Concurrent helminth infections have been suggested to be associated with protection against cerebral malaria in humans, a condition characterised by systemic inflammation. Here we show that a concurrent chronic gastro-intestinal nematode infection does not alter the course of murine cerebral malaria. Mice infected with Heligmosomoides polygyrus, and co-infected with Plasmodium berghei ANKA 14 d...

Microencapsulation as one of the most modern methods has remarkable effects on probiotic survival. In this study Lactobacillus casei (ATCC 39392) and Bifidobacterium bifidum (ATCC 29521) were encapsulated using calcium alginate-gelatinized starch, chitosan coating and inulin via emulsion technique, and were incubated in simulated gastric juice (along with pepsin, pH=1.5) and simulated intestina...

متن کاملPromoting probiotics survival by microencapsualtion with Hylon starch and genipin cross-linked coatings in simulated gastro-intestinal condition and heat treatment
Microencapsulation with hydrocolloids as a modern technique has been used to prolong the survival of probiotics during exposure to harsh conditions. In this study, alginate-Hylon starch microcapsules with genipin cross-linked chitosan and poly-L-lysine coatings were developed to encapsulate four strains of probiotic bacteria, including Lactobacillus casei (ATCC 39392), Bifidobacterium bifidum (...
